Computing Stochastical Bounds for the Tail Distribution of an M/GI/1 Queue

چکیده
Packet switching networks lead mostly to M/GI/1 queue models. In this paper, computing methods are designed in order to get quickly approximate values for response time of these networks. Laplace transform is a powerful tool to study such queuing systems. But inversion of the Laplace transform on the real line is well known to be an illconditioned problem and usual numerical methods of inversion fail to give accurate error bounds. A new method to address this old problem is a orded by the recently developed formal computing tools: exact computations can be done during the rst steps of calculation, while usual oating point computations remain con ned to the last steps. Applying that method to an M/GI/1 queue, a formal approach is designed, leading to proven bounds, and several numerical improvements are proposed. Accurate bounds are obtained.

Heavy Tails in Multi-Server Queue
In this paper, the asymptotic behaviour of the distribution tail of the stationary waiting time W in the GI/GI/2 FCFS queue is studied. Under subexponential-type assumptions on the service time distribution, bounds and sharp asymptotics are given for the probability P{W > x}. We also get asymptotics for the distribution tail of a stationary two-dimensional workload vector and of a stationary qu...

متن کاملA stochastic version analysis of an M/G/1 retrial queue with Bernoulli schedule
In this work, we derive insensitive bounds for various performance measures of a single-server retrial queue with generally distributed inter-retrial times and Bernoulli schedule, under the special assumption that only the customer at the head of the orbit queue (i.e., a FCFS discipline governing the flow from the orbit to the server) is allowed to occupy the server. The method...
متن کاملCustomer sojourn time in GI/GI/1 feedback queue in the presence of heavy tails
We consider a single-server GI/GI/1 queueing system with feedback. We assume the service times distribution to be (intermediate) regularly varying. We find the tail asymptotics for a customer’s sojourn time in two regimes: the customer arrives in an empty system, and the customer arrives in the system in the stationary regime. In particular, in the case of Poisson input we use the branching pro...
متن کاملError Bounds for Perturbing Nonexponential Queues
A general framework is provided to derive analytic error bounds for the effect of perturbations and inaccuracies of nonexponential service or arrival distributions in singleand multi-server queues. The general framework is worked out in detail for the three types of finite or infinite buffer queues: GI/G/1/N , M/G/c/N , and GI/M/c/N . First, for the standard GI/G/1/N queue, it is illustrated ho...
